Reddit shows you the top post. It doesn't show you the top people. ThoughtLab Top Commenters is the free Chrome extension that fixes that, on any page, in one click.
Three things, one click
Top Commenters
A ranked list of the ten most prolific voices on whatever page you're viewing — a single post, a subreddit feed, or a user profile. Each row links straight to their Reddit profile. Know who's driving the room.
Sentiment Read
Positive, neutral, negative — the whole conversation, charted as a stacked bar. Calibrated for Reddit's actual vocabulary. “Based,” “pog,” “slay,” and “w” all count.
Top Phrases
The three-word phrases that repeat most in the comments, rendered as pills. Not the single words you'd see in a word cloud — the real patterns of how the room is talking.
Works everywhere on Reddit
- On a single post — reads every comment in the thread and aggregates from there.
- On a subreddit feed — detects the sort (hot, new, top, best, rising, controversial), walks the top 10 posts, pulls comments with polite throttling.
- On a user profile — pulls the user's last 100 items and surfaces the subreddits they actually live in.
Privacy posture: all local
The extension never sends data to any ThoughtLab server. The only network calls it makes go back to reddit.com — the same site you're already on. If you're signed into Reddit, we use your browser's existing cookie to get higher rate limits. That cookie never leaves your machine.
The most recent result is cached locally on your device for 60 seconds so reopening the popup on the same Reddit page doesn't re-hit Reddit's rate limit. The cache holds only the URL, a timestamp, and the comment text already fetched from Reddit — nothing else, never uploaded, overwritten on the next run.
You don't need a ThoughtLab account to use the extension, and using the extension doesn't sign you up for anything. It's a gift. If you end up wanting history, persistence, or AI analysis, that's what ThoughtLab.live is for.
